Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly when you create an account and use our platform:
- Account information — name, email address, organization name, and role when you register for NILmetrics.
- Usage data — how you interact with the platform, including pages visited, features used, searches performed, and scores viewed.
- Analytics data — device type, browser, operating system, IP address, and general location data to help us understand how our platform is used and improve performance.
Athlete Data on Public Evaluations
NILmetrics evaluates college athletes, most of whom are not NILmetrics account holders. To produce a NILmetrics Score and the underlying pillar breakdown, we compile information about athletes from public sources and third-party data providers. We do not publish an athlete's private contact details, and our public pages never display an individual athlete's dollar valuation. Public evaluations show the NILmetrics Score, the four-pillar breakdown, and the score tier only.
The athlete information we process includes:
- Athletic performance: game statistics, results, official team rosters, and player headshots.
- Recruiting and draft data: recruiting rankings and projected draft position.
- Accolades: conference and national awards and honors.
- Public social metrics: follower counts and engagement rates from public social-media profiles (we do not access private messages or non-public content).
- News and public mentions: publicly published articles that reference the athlete.
Where Athlete Data Comes From
We compile athlete information from third-party data providers and publicly available sources. These include collegiate sports statistics services, athletic recruiting and draft-analysis services, public social-media platforms (accessed through a third-party data provider), and public news sources. We process this data to operate an analytics and evaluation service.
Our use of this data is governed by applicable law and, where we obtain data through a third-party provider, by our agreement with that provider. If you believe specific data about an athlete is inaccurate or has been used incorrectly, see the "Athlete Opt-Out, Removal, and Correction" section below.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Provide and operate the NILmetrics platform, including delivering NIL valuation scores, analytics, and reports.
- Improve the platform — analyze usage patterns to enhance features, fix issues, and develop new capabilities.
- Communicate with you — send account-related notifications, respond to support requests, and share platform updates relevant to your use.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We may share data with third-party service providers who help us operate the platform — such as hosting providers, analytics services, and email delivery platforms. These providers are contractually obligated to use your data only to perform services on our behalf and to maintain appropriate security measures.
Data Retention
We retain account information for as long as your organization maintains an active NILmetrics account, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, and reporting obligations.
We retain athlete information for as long as it remains relevant to producing current evaluations. When an athlete is no longer actively evaluated, or upon a verified removal request, we remove the athlete from public NILmetrics surfaces and delete or de-identify the underlying records, subject to any legal retention requirements.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest for all stored data.
- Access controls that limit data access to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis.
- Regular security reviews of our infrastructure and application code.
Your Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Deletion — request that we delete your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
Athlete Opt-Out, Removal, and Correction
If you are a college athlete, or an authorized representative such as a parent, agent, or institution, you have the following options regarding an athlete's public evaluation. We verify each request and aim to action verified removals within 5 business days.
- Opt out or removal: request that an athlete's profile be removed from public NILmetrics surfaces.
- Correction: request that we correct inaccurate athlete information.
- Ask about sources: ask which sources informed a specific evaluation.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify active users via email.
